The Union Glashütte Noramis Chronograph Limited Edition Sachsen Classic 2025
In celebration of classic car culture, Union Glashütte extends its line of automotive-styled watches once more.
With the classic car season in full swing, it’s no surprise we get to see a few new special editions to celebrate automotive culture one way or another. One of the brands to have close ties to vintage motorsports and rallying events is Union Glashütte. The German manufacturer regularly updates models from its Noramis and Belisar collections in partnership with events like the Silvretta Classic and the Deutschland Classic. To mark this year’s Sachsen Classic, which is held from August 14th to August 16th, a new special edition of the Noramis Chronograph is introduced. Inspired by the one-off 1952 Grosser Werkmeister sports car, this is the Noramis Chronograph Limited Edition Sachsen Classic 2025.
What may sound like an automotive obscurity is actually an important step in motorsports for the Eastern part of Germany. The Grosser Werkmeister, an open-top two-seater racing car, was the work of designer Georg Werkmeister and bodybuilder Georg Hufnagel in 1952, and it made its racing debut on the Sachsenring, just outside of Dresden, that same year. It was built upon the underpinnings of a pre-war BMW 328 and fitted with an aluminium body. In 2006, the car was restored to original specifications, and last year it was sold through a Swiss auctioneer.
The new Noramis Chronograph Limited Edition Sachsen Classic 2025 honours this unique car with a silver perlage-finished dial, black subcounters and red details. The subdial for the running seconds on the left also integrates the date window, while the subcounter for the chronograph minutes gets a red hand. Further touches include a black and red minute track, black hour and minute hands with Super-LumiNova inserts, and a red-tipped chronograph seconds hand.
This is set in a contemporary-sized stainless steel case of 42mm in width and 14.45mm in height. The pump-style pushers flanking the crown start, stop and reset the chronograph, with the top one getting a red stem for contrast. A sapphire crystal covers both dial and movement, and the water resistance is rated at 100 meters. The movement is the brand’s proprietary UNG-27.S2, a modified Valjoux 7753 providing a minimum of 65 hours of power reserve.
The new Sachsen Classic 2025 limited edition comes on a black calfskin leather strap with silver-grey stitching and a double-folding clasp with push-button release. Limited to 350 pieces, individually numbered on the caseback, it retails for EUR 3,600.

Very cool and I love the date window. I just wish UG would start to make their watches just a bit smaller.
