Block RG is a new indie watch brand with a vision to create high-end, futuristic watches unlike anything else on the market. The project was initiated by Romas Gimbutis, an entrepreneur with extensive expertise in watches, who brought together a collective of talented and creative minds to explore beyond the boundaries of traditional watchmaking. At the helm of their first design are Fabrice Gonet & Olivier Leu of Edge Design in Lausanne. Meet the Block RG Stealth, a horological UFO inspired by science fiction and stealth fighters such as the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk.

Block RG watches are about radical, unconventional, technical, and mechanical watchmaking. As its name suggests, the design of their first model, the Block RG Stealth, is inspired by stealth aircraft such as the F-117 Nighthawk. Just like these, it stands out with its aggressive, angular design. Its visually striking geometry is composed of flat surfaces, while multiple sapphire crystals allow you to discover the intricacies of its architectural skeletonised movement… but more details on this later.

The construction of the Block RG Stealth’s 46mm x 36mm edgy case relies on a chassis that hugs a faceted box sapphire crystal, protecting the movement. Two openworked faceted protectors are positioned symmetrically on each side of the case. Turning the watch over, you’ll find eight screws securing this assembly, while a sapphire crystal reveals the other side of the movement through a geometric figure-eight-shaped opening. Last, a large crenellated crown ensures easy operation.

The sophisticated engine powering this futuristic watch is a hand-wound, skeletonised tourbillon movement focusing all the attention on depth and contrast. Its striking architecture, developed with Telos, is highlighted by a mix of materials and textures, with all components held in place by geometric black PVD bridges and mainplate. Its architecture is based on symmetrical design. At 12 o’clock, there’s a large openworked barrel with a coaxial power reserve indication on a sapphire dial. At 6 o’clock, the equally large tourbillon (15.80mm) performs its hypnotic ballet over a second track made of sapphire, while the motion of the gear train makes the flow of time visible. Rotating once per minute, the tourbillon beats at 4Hz, which makes the watch’s 4-day power reserve all the more impressive. Made up of 37 parts, the tourbillon weighs just 0.50g, a feat made possible by the use of titanium to craft its cage. Its balance wheel features adjustment weights. A cool touch in the dark, its three arms feature Super-LumiNova blocks.

Available in pink gold but also in titanium, the Block RG Stealth tourbillon watches won’t leave anyone indifferent… They are attached to the wrist with a hoop and loop textile strap and are released in exclusive, limited-edition sets of 8 pieces per colour/material combination. Customisation options are available upon request. Price is set at EUR 375,000.

  1. Aside from the astronomical price, this is a stunning machine.. though that strap looks disappointingly cheap by comparison.

  2. I could get three Lambos instead of that overpriced watch… Come on, though — this watch actually deserves to be bought! The watch market is going absolutely crazy right now. What’s going on? How much longer can it keep going higher and higher?which tech did they use for that ..space tech

  3. While the latest Agelocer flying tourbillion watch with a full crystal case goes for barely over 1k euro in Kickstarter.

  4. I follow Block RG on Instagram and felt very compelled by their design so I made my way over to their website which features lots of great photos and information… but nothing about the price. I find it odd that you can work so hard to get to this point but not share with your audience how much you are asking for your art (whatever the price may be).
