The New H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Purple Enamel
A minimalist Concept watch decorated with an intoxicatingly seductive Purple Haze enamelled and hammered dial.
Moser hits the nail on the head when it states that for a straightforward three-hand watch to rise above the generic models populating the field, it requires perfect balance and proportions, high-end finishes and a unique touch. The new Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept ticks all the boxes with its well-finished, balanced case, captivating purple Grand Feu enamelled and textured dial bereft of distractions. Attracting attention on both sides of the case, the Endeavour now beats to the automatic HMC 201, offering a more expansive view of the movement.
Introduced in 2017, the Endeavour Centre Seconds was the distillation of a pure and elegant three-hand watch with a minimalist fumé dial, discreet hour markers and the brand’s name at noon. Revisited in Moser’s ‘Concept’ watch language, where minimalism is pushed to the max, the Endeavour Centre Seconds appeared with a seductive Blue Lagoon dial stripped of numerals and branding with just three hands.
The beauty of Moser’s Concept watches is the protagonism they give the dial. And as the leading exponent of beautiful fumé or gradient dials, this is a good thing. The dial of the new Endeavour revisits the ancestral art of Grand Feu enamel and gives it a contemporary twist.
The process starts with an artisan engraving a hammered effect into the white gold dial base. Next up, the master enameller crushes the six enamel pigments and applies them in a gradation to produce the fumé effect – lighter in the centre and more saturated on the periphery. After multiple firings, the fascinating Purple Haze rises to the surface. Fitted with elegant leaf-shaped hour and minute hands and a slender heat-purpled seconds hand, there is absolutely nothing to distract from the mesmerising presence of the dial.
The stainless steel case, which measures 40mm and has a height of 11.2mm, features the attractive groove on the case band that distinguishes the Endeavour family. Revealed on the caseback is Moser’s manufacture HMC 201 calibre (an evolution of the HMC 200 automatic) with an in-house regulating organ. Thanks to the partially skeletonised bridges and the openworked gold rotor, the viewing pleasure is increased. Giving the movement a more contemporary look, the skeletonised bridges feature an anthracite finish with Moser’s signature double stripe. The wheels of the gear train, the balance wheel with its blue bridge and plenty of other components are now visible. The large balance wheel oscillates at a frequency of 21,600vph, and the barrel still delivers a solid 3-day power reserve.
Completing the purple theme, the watch comes on a soft, purple hand-stitched kudu (antelope leather) strap with a steel pin buckle. It will be priced at CHF 27,000 (excl. taxes). More information at h-moser.com.
