The Favre Leuba Chief Chronograph now in British Racing Green and Dune

Favre Leuba was never shy to bring colour and character to its watches, and the Chief Chronograph is no exception. Launched in 2024 as a modern revival of the brand’s 1970s designs, the new models got noticed with their distinctive looks and rather complex dial construction. Now, the line welcomes two fresh references, presented in British Racing Green and Dune, that bring new personality to an already fun collection.

The Chief Chronograph, like all watches from the Chief Series, is defined by its cushion-shaped case, measuring 41mm across and 14mm thick. Crafted in stainless steel, the surfaces alternate between brushed and polished finishes, a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating covers the dial, while a sapphire caseback reveals the movement. Water resistance is rated at 100m, ensuring that its vintage-inspired looks are backed by practical resilience.

As with the earlier models, the dial is the star of the show. Each one requires plenty of production steps, layering a sunburst finish on the main surface, circular brushing on the sub-dials, and a ribbed contour around the periphery, to create a remarkable sense of depth and texture, elevated further by carefully selected colours. 

The new British Racing Green edition draws on the legendary motorsport hue, shifting from bright to dark depending on the light, while the Dune version offers a warmer, more understated elegance with its sandy tone and rose gold–coloured accents. In both models, applied indices, multi-faceted hands and Super-LumiNova X1 ensure excellent legibility. A tachymeter scale on the inner ring underlines the watch’s sporting credentials, with the balanced bi-compax layout placing the chronograph minutes at three o’clock and running seconds at nine.

The Favre Leuba Chief Chronograph is powered by the automatic FLC02 calibre, developed together with La Joux-Perret. Beating 28,800 vibrations/hour, it provides a 68-hour power reserve. The finishing is in keeping with Favre Leuba’s tradition, with Geneva stripes, perlage, blued screws and a skeletonised rotor visible through the sapphire back. Also, this movement features a thermally blued column wheel.

Both versions are delivered with Favre Leuba’s integrated two-link steel bracelet, finished with a mix of brushing and polishing to match the case. An alternative FKM rubber strap is available too, colour-matched to each dial, offering a differentiating look.
