Bremont has a solid portfolio of rugged tool watches designed for airborne, seaborne and land exploration. Recently restructured under Davide Cerrato, Bremont’s 2024 Terrra Nova collection was the CEO’s trial by fire. With its cushion-shaped cases, vintage details, and excellent legibility, the Terra Nova collection is designed to capture the elemental spirit of yesteryear’s military field watches. However, in a surprising move, Bremont unveiled the Terra Nova Jumping Hours in two different styles. The most unexpected of the two was the 38mm Terra Nova bronze, a limited-edition montre à guichet with a jumping hours display. Now sold out, the bronze edition has been replaced with this new non-limited steel edition.

A montre à guichet is defined as a watch with small apertures (guichet) instead of hands to read the time. Bremont’s interpretation of the montre à guichet took everybody by surprise at Watches & Wonders 2025, although it wasn’t the only contender in the field. Cartier unveiled a new version of its iconic Tank à Guichets, and Louis Vuitton presented its digital Tambour Convergence with jumping hours during the LVMH watch week.

The most striking feature of the Terra Nova Jumping Hours is the protective cover over the dial. Like trench watches, which relied on shrapnel guards or metal grilles to protect their dials, Bremont’s new Terra Nova has a protective brushed steel shield over the dial with three apertures. The jumping hours are revealed at noon, the running seconds are displayed in a circular window in the centre with Bremont’s new Wayfinder compass logo and a black hand, and the minutes are shown below. Like the bronze edition, sapphire crystal windows protect the apertures, and the discs have white backgrounds and brown numerals.

Although it is hidden beneath the sealed caseback, the movement, which enables the precise and rapid jump of the hour disc, is an exclusive jumping hours calibre made for Bremont by Sellita. This customised BC634 movement (protected for two years) has a high torque, ensuring the jump to the next numeral occurs in less than 1/10th of a second. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph, the new movement is fitted with a Glucydur balance wheel, a Nivaflex mainspring, an Anachron balance spring and delivers a robust 56-hour power reserve.

The model we photographed has a 3-link steel bracelet, but it can also be ordered with a chocolate-coloured leather strap. Fitted with a quick-release system, switching the bracelet for the strap is a cinch. The price is EUR 5,050 on leather strap and EUR 5,350 on steel bracelet. More information at bremont.com.

  1. Regardless of the material I find this design as cool as unexpected from Bremont. What a cool watch!
