The Conquest collection holds a rather special place in the history of Longines. It was Longines’ first collection to be trademarked – in 1954 with the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property. This was a pivotal moment for Longines as organising models by collection increased product identification. Since then, the name has remained and today refers to two sub-ranges. The Conquest line, the brand’s all-rounder models. And the Conquest Heritage, vintage-inspired watches, which maintain the distinctive design elements that made the original Conquest a great success back in the 1950s. This year, Longines drastically expands the Conquest Heritage by adding an array of new colours and a new steel bracelet.

In recent years, Longines’ mostly focused its attention on the modern side of the Conquest collection, relaunching it in 2023 as its versatile, semi-elegant, semi-sporty everyday watch. The Conquest Heritage, on the other hand, is a great example of a vintage-inspired watch by Longines, something the brand is fairly good at. Despite a nice historically-relevant design and an undeniable charm, this watch somehow remained in the shadows of many other retro-styled models. However, recently we’ve seen the launch of the highly appealing Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve, bringing back attention to this collection. As for the classic time-only model, up until now, choices were limited: 38mm or 40mm cases, black or silver dials.

This year, the Longines Conquest Heritage expands drastically, as from 4 references in the past, we’re now going up to 18 models in total (excluding the Year of the Snake edition). New dial colours and the option for a steel bracelet, both adding versatility and choices to the equation, are what this article is all about. As before, the Conquest Heritage is available in two different sizes – 38mm or 40mm – with the same thickness of 10.80mm as well as identical overall design. The polished steel case has a certain elegance and retro charm, with its flat bezel, box-shaped sapphire crystal and short lugs. The back is rather appealing as it is decorated with an 18K yellow-gold medallion featuring an engraved and hand-enamelled fish motif (gold models of the past had a constellation instead).

As for the dial, all are domed and have a two-tone effect thanks to a sunray-brushed base with a circular brushed ring positioned under the signature triangular, double-facetted applied markers. All the models in the collection have an elegant no-date display. In addition to the existing black and silver versions, Longines adds new sophisticated colours to the collection: blue paired with faceted applied rhodium-plated indexes/hands and two bolder colours – green and brown – paired with rose gold accents on the hands and markers. The silver edition, with its yellow gold contrasting elements, and the black edition, with rose gold accents, remain untouched. All colours are available in two sizes.

Inside the case is the Calibre L888.5, a movement exclusive to Longines and based on the ETA 2892 architecture. This automatic movement has been upgraded with a silicon balance spring, a frequency of 3.5Hz and a longer power reserve of 72 hours.

The other major update to the Conquest Heritage collection, in addition to the new colours, is the possibility to now wear the watch on a H-link steel bracelet with polished and brushed surfaces. Adding a touch of sportiness, it is closed by a folding clasp with a micro-adjustment system. If you prefer something more elegant, all references can also be worn on a black or brown alligator leather strap with heritage-inspired steel pin buckle.

Now available from the brand, the Longines Conquest Heritage, whatever the chosen diameter, retails at EUR 3,200 or CHF 2,750 on strap, and EUR 3,350 or CHF 2,850 on steel bracelet. For more details, please visit longines.com.
